Key West Wayfinding
Wayfinding & Environmental Design
Key West Wayfinding is a conceptual signage system designed to help visitors navigate Duval Street, one of the busiest pedestrian corridors in Key West. Currently, the area relies mostly on standard street signs, offering little guidance for tourists moving between major landmarks.
The central directional sign is designed with four sides, allowing it to be read from multiple approaches. This makes it useful for pedestrians walking toward the sign, people passing alongside it, and even drivers moving through the street. In a crowded
environment, navigation often happens in quick glances, so the system prioritizes clear hierarchy and easy scanning.
Although the system is intended for all visitors to Key West, additional signage is designed specifically for cruise passengers arriving at the port. With no existing wayfinding around the cruise terminal, many visitors begin their excursions without clear orientation. These signs help bridge that gap, guiding travelers from the port toward key destinations along Duval Street.
